Don't know Scratch, when I sent him a note asking what happened, I had to enter a question catagory. The question catagory made me wonder if she hadn't been sold to you.

Anyway, I told him what happened and that he still had BUY it NOW in his description. I told him a friend of mine had entered the BIN. We'll see...............he's got 100% feedback.

Thanks Graham. Another J20 hit ebay today for more and does not appear to be in as good shape. You never know... Not sure I'll be able to sleep/relax before she arrives. Hopefully by Tuesday or so...

Scratchmon,

I didn't realize you were a fellow Texan. Canyon Lake? Down around S.A. isn't it? My gosh the hill country is beautiful, you're a lucky guy to live down there.

I think you're gonna love the JF30 12. Man, what a 12. Congrats on the deal, Looks like she's got a couple of dings, but most do.....won't much matter after you hear her!

Good luck,

West

West,
I recognized right away you were a fellow Texan. I put stock in your opinion... After retiing from the military we lived in Schertz (NE of SA) for several years all the while dreaming of moving out this way. We finally did so last summer. The hill country is heaven on earth. If you're ever here in God's country, please let me know. We'll have you (& Mrs?) over to eat some brisket, watch a sunset over Canyon Lake, pick a tune or two, then you can show me how to really play this beauty. I was so close to buying the GAD but knew all along that would be settling for less than what I wanted for years. Sincerely appreciate your help, man...

Did some hunting a little south of you in Hondo a few years ago. My olderst sister lived in San Antonio and Austin for years. I love it down there. For a few years my sister lived near the Pedernales River out 71 from Austin.

I will let you know the next time we head that way. I can't wait to hear how you like your addition, please let us know what ya think  but I'm afraid you'll have to find someone else to show you how to play her.

West,
She arrived on Friday afternoon; everything you said she'd be. Pam may be getting jealous because I'm spending more time with this shapely maple beauty han her, but Pam is a bit high strung anyway :D

I have her tuned in 'D', as I do the Martin . My fingers are slowly getting accustomed to the thicker neck; Em7 for example takes some geting used to, but I'm getting there. Several years of dust on my fingers are fading away little by little , and at last, the callouses are back. Action is low and no buzz... She's all I hoped she'd be and more. You da man, West...you da man...

I'll take pictures and pass along.

:D :D Man, that's great. Yes, pictures soon definately. Was she in described condition Sratch?

Congratulations to you my friend. No thanks neccessary, man I have a blast pairing you guys up with great Guilds.

Yep, I know what you mean about having to adjust to play her. Mine is a workout. They are heavy with that fat neck and that's a bunch of strings to mash, but my gosh......what a sound!

Scratch,

Check this out. A mahogany......looks like a great price in very good condition. Says matte finish in the description, but looks awful shiney to me.

I did...and its coming to my home! Thanks for the head's up. I have been wanting to buy a Guild 12-string and this looks like a good one to me. I'll let you know when I get it, and how good it sounds.

Thank you.

I couldn't figure the J-204 out either! Limited production maybe? Maybe Hans can help?

Sure is a pretty thing... Is she home, yet, Jeff?

Thanks guys!

I couldn't find that model number listed on Guild's website either. It was made in Rhode Island from what I can gather from the label. But the picture is not good enough to make sure of the model number. The seller says that the model number is correct. I know Guild's labels seem to be rather "hastily" written in by hand in the assembly line sometimes, i.e., the model number and the serial numbers that is. Sometimes they are just plain hard to make out regardless. Who knows, it could be a special "one-off" model that was custom made, or a prototype, although I sincerely doubt it. He's a respected luthier who builds really nice Django guitars up in New York, by the way. I was thrilled to come across this one from a tip from another post on one of the guitar forums I believe, although that I can't remember which one it was.

From what I can ascertain, I appears to be a Jumbo "4" series model (like the D-4 dreadnaught models that they had for a while), and it has an all-satin finish along with an arched laminated back and solid sides. It has no belly, neck is straight, and is supposedly in mint condition. He says it has great string to string definition and is loud. I have the option to send it back if I don't like it. If I keep it, I will probably be selling my Martin D-28 copy Takamine Acoustic/Electric 12-string soon.

I should get it by Friday, hopefully. I'll let you all know about it when it arrives.

Thanks for your comments.

Jeff

Wish I could enlarge that. Try posting one or two on Photobucket or someplace, then attaching it. That way, I can really see her.

How you liking her Scratch?
