Just wondering, are there good, better and best cables for your guitar and amp?

I will be having a DeArmond X155 delivered within the next week. I have one cable but it sounds crackly, so I will pick up another one. What would I look for in a good one?

Just did a deal with Four Star Wire here in Michigan. Actually on the other side of the state so a bit closer to you. Should have my demo package any day now with several options for standard-pro cables.

I'll demo my package, if you'll demo yours !

My only stock right now are 10' & 20' lengths with straight ends. Along with mic, & speaker cables. I'll get a bit of a break on my next order due to the typo on the shrink tubing....hence the sharpie "s" making son plural. They have it correctly on the packaging, invoicing & everything else.

Well, today's blem is tomorrow collectible...any chance some of your next order will be 'tweed'?

My gear has inverted chasses; the straight ends tend to stick up in the air putting a little more strain on the strain relief...so to speak.

Nevertheless, I'll take a 10-footer; PM w/ price, paypal ok?

Thanks for starting this thread. I've been having nightmares with cables the past couple months. I'm convinced I have discovered the problem -- I made them

If you're dealing in guitar, stomp box, speaker, and mic cables, Don, please add me to the mailing list for your catalog!

I believe cables are a very difficult thing to talk about. So many even good musicians really do not care about them. But I tested a lot and stay with horizon silverflex cables at the moment. I own (not only) one for about 20 years and it still sounds pretty well and is working 100%. What are the specs and price of your cables, Don?

all the best

I'm just not one that can really hear that much of a difference in cables. Most of mine are 10+ years old. When they start acting funky I just cut the ends off and re-solder. I did buy a Bullet brand cable recently and it seems very well made. They're around $40.

Here's the website of my supplier. http://www.mystarsound.com/

I'm afraid I've been on the disorganized side of things lately. Getting ready to move & have been busy trying to complete the list of projects around the house so it shows better.

I still have the first Pro Co cable I every bought. It's at least 25 years old. Had always liked them as a local company, & liked them even better after working there in the '80's!

thanks don,

hope the house looks good now.
and thanks for the link. the the logo imprinted on the heat shrink is a great feature, but I think you will not get this with neutrik plugs? Never heard a ProCo Cable but I have had a Rat but sold it a few years ago, like the tubeamp-overdrive better .
Did you have the chance to compare a horizon silverflex which I prefer at the moment to the mystar cables? and how much are 2x20 ft and 2x2 ft and 2x2 ft-rr with orange heat shrink and krysh.com imprinted cables to germany?

thanks in advance and all the best,

michael

Yes on the neutrik ends.

I've used Horizon mic cables a lot, but never an instrument cable.

Which model Rat? Could've been one I built myself. 8)
