I'm sure there are more than a few Floyd fans here. I got to see two of their Toronto shows in 1994 I think, for the Division Bell tour. No Roger for that one, but it was astounding. I was wondering what your favorite albums are? Is there anybody out there?, there, there...(that's the song that made me go out and buy a guitar 😊) My 2 favorites, too close to pick!

I listen to Animals most, but post Sid through post Roger plus all of David's solo stuff makes its way into my listening selections often.

My senior yearbook quote was "The child has grown, the dream is gone... I have become comfortably numb".

I bought Roger's "Pros and Cons" when it came out, liked the Clapton and Sanborn's addition, but I'm a Gilmour fan more than anyone else in the band. I haven't paid any time or money on him since.

I also rented "Live At Pompeii" enough from the local VHS rental place (Costume and Magic shop outside Sparta Lanes for the local NJ folks) to buy a couple copies.

This is probably the singularly best piece of music written / performed to my mind and soul

The drum beat at about 7:34 is my 'go to' when I sit at a drum kit.

Gilmour's solo stuff like Cry from the street , There's no way out of here and Raise my rent is so tasty.

The first one was out for 2 years when I discovered him / them. I bought the rest as they were released. His new one gets a bit of play from me, one of his best yet. I'm listening to Mihalis right now :D

He got my attention back with On an Island, And all his work on Division Bell was awesome too.

I got tickets that were seats in the stands for the first Division Bell tour in Toronto. Best concert ever! They were doing 3 shows, so the next night after I saw them I was thinking Omg, he is starting up right about now lol. Went to the ticket joint the next morning and got 7th row center for the 3rd show. Close enough to see the smile on David, Nick and Richards face. Melted my face so bad I needed thousands of dollars worth of reconstructive surgery.

I love everything from Piper up to Animals, and can appreciate The Wall for what it is....a Bob Ezrin production. First Gilmour album is great too.
Loved The Final Cut and Delicate sound of thunder too.

One hand on the wheel, the other one the volume control, if you're in a car.

bought a Wish You Were Here cassette brand new in 5th grade, and played the wheels off of it by 9th grade. That is likely my #1.

Dark Side however, there is no denying its magic. That and Delicate were huge, huge for me.

Animals however, I did not hear until a little later. closer to maybe 10th or 11th grade or so. Animals was released the year I was born, 1977. The first time I heard the record (CD), from the first note, of each song- it sounded extremely familiar, and comforting in some way. I can only speculate a baby sitter, or some other very early experience involved that record, with regularity, during my earliest days. Way cool.

Speaking of baby sitters, this is a great story. I have a friend, Matt, born February 1974. His older sister was responsible for him one night in late February 1980, he had just turned 6. His sister got invited to the Wall show at Nassau Coliseum, and she could only go if she brought 6 y/o Matt with them- and that is exactly what she did! Matt also went to Momentary/Delicate at Nassau in 87 or 88, and the Division Bell/Pulse in 94 (plus tons of Waters shows Pros and Cons etc) so he saw the Wall when he was 6, and 3 Floyd tours in all. for being born in 74, that is pretty solid!

I went to the Division Bell at Yankee Stadium. insane for sure. Bunch of Waters shows over the years. Gilmour once at Radio City, On an Island tour with Crosby and Nash (and Rick Wright).

Meddle, Final Cut and the Syd stuff are great too. Between Syd and Meddle those few albums are not my favorite

Are the days of throwing on a whole LP and listening to it fully gone now? The Floyd knew how to present it as a full work. It's all about the singles now.

I make playlist now, my own eclectic radio station with zero commercial or station identity breaks. I occasionally listen to single albums end to end, but prefer 2-3 days worth of music from different genre on random

Yes, until Roger got carried away. The Wall, Final Cut, are fantastic; but they are no Animals, Wish, Dark Side, Meddle...
