1973 Guild D25 all hog arch back

Pictures to follow. Good condition, straight neck, no belly, bridge tight to top, beautiful BRW fretboard, some FB wear in cowboy chord area, sounds amazing just finding that the Guild 1 11/16th nut no longer fits my hand! Non original HSC. Located in Tampa area.$800.

ah, holy grail D25, nice. always good to see these pop up from time to time.
i doubt seriously the fretboard is braz rosewood however, but that would be even better.
good luck with sale Jim!

FRETboard might be questionable but good possibility bridge is. They had stock of suitable size for fret boards and bridges into the late '70's at least, but it wouldn't surprise me if they saved the stuff suitable for fretboards for D50's (and maybe other higher-end flattops), where they even had mixed Braz/EIR bodies until '74 "IIRC".

yeah, like why would they use it for the D25? that is the base model. or pretty close.

I’ll try to post pix today. All I know is that the FB and bridge are both beautifully figured.

Madagascar perhaps ?

I don't think Madagascar was even being used in '73, there was plenty enough EIR to go around.
And when Madagascar did start coming into the market it was for ebony, CITES listed in 2011. Their rosewood was listed in 2013, Appendix II,(Regulated trade, not prohibition; the one they just added all the rest of the rosewoods to:
https://www.fws.gov/international/plants/current-cites-listings-of-tree-species.html )

A I mentioned to Wood, Guild had stocks of Brazilian that were suitably sized for fretboards and bridges well into the '70's, in fact I think Hans once showed us some photos of replacement bridges he had that were from the '80's "If I remember correctly". And pretty sure about that one.

Because they had no worries about using the stuff suitable for bridges for that purpose. Probably knew they had years' worth of stock.
It was the stuff big enough for backs and sides they were running out of.
So I'd believe a Braz bridge on a '73 D25 easily, and a fretboard's entirely possible.

Guys. This is a FS thread. If the seller wants your speculations I'm sure we can move this to a more appropriate area. If you are disputing the claim of BRW then let's wait for pics, DNA testing of the wood, or a revised listing.

http://www.letstalkguild.com/ltg/showthread.php?179584-Read-me-please-Policy-Reminder

I should also note that it is tradition, inconsistently enforced by moderation, that posts in response to a FS/FT be limited to the specific instrument for sale. This is not the place to discuss the general qualities of the model or tell people how much you love your similar guitar or ask which strings to use on the same model. Those are worthy topics of discussion but please start them somewhere else and don't pile them on to a FS/FT or WTB listing. So please start the new topic elsewhere and don't be surprised if posts get moved when you don't. If you see something that should be moved, PM a moderator. The fact that it has not been moved is most likely to be a busy moderator and not a change in policy.

Price discussions are allowed at LTG. However, again as a matter of tradition, people are encouraged to have them in a Members Only section and not in a FS listing. There have been a couple of ugly incidents where sellers believed that a price discussion in the open on LTG poisoned a sale elsewhere. Similarly, comments about the condition that could be taken as negative, might best be made elsewhere. One trick that might help is to ask a question in the FS thread and not make assumptions or value judgements. "What glue was used to make the repair?" is Good, "Are you sure your luthier used epoxy?" is OK but "What idiot repaired that?" should be asked elsewhere, if asking it is even really necessary.

I got turned around myself when dropping back in on the thread and thought the promise to upload pics was part of an NGD announcement. (insert embarrassed emoticon here)
@Jim:
I'm sure we all wish you best of luck and I could be interested myself, $ and space allowing..

The fretboard sure looks like BRW to me. Doesn't make it sound any better, but it sure is pretty.

That is a gorgeous fret board
It surely is....doesn't look like your typical Indian Rosewood for sure. The Seller took all the right photos. It looks well played but functionally good. Someone has loved and continuously played that guitar. I bet it sounds great.
