Now that we have the reappearence of the fullsize "HB-1" humbucker in the new NS Polara's, could we be seeing the return of the solidbody "Bluesbird" in the Newark Street Line sometime in the future? A "Bluesbird" made to the quality and pricepoint of the NS guitars could be a great, much more affordable alternative to a Gibson Les Paul.

There's a good chance it will look a lot like this:

Does that mean that Cordoba/Guild asked to "Borrow" your guitar in the picture to possibly Scan and Reverse Engineer for a future model Grot?

I'm sure Cordoba would have asked for a non-disclosure agreement as part of the borrowing and if they did, I'm sure he can't really answer that in a public forum. :)

Look here …
Markus

That thread confirms a D-25. Another instrument was definitely confirmed when invited visitors to the Museum asked to see a particular instrument and it was not available but it is not for me to tell and possible get Grot in warm water. I forget what the best guess was for the third instrument because no one was guessing it was a bass :)

I wasn't trying to get anyone in trouble and the question was asked out of speculation and fun.:friendly_wink: On a separate note, now if anything is wrong with whatever reissue guitar they come out with we can just blame Grot! LOL

If they reissue a cherry red one like the photo, I may have to beat the doors down on my local Guild dealer to apoprehend one for myself.

If they bring back another electric, I vote for the Nightbird!

My wishlist would include the pre-1970, semi-hollow version of the M-75 Bluesbird or the F-holed Nightingale, however, since Grot doesn't have either of those in his collection, chances are slim that my hopes will be fulfilled. :concern:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the only semihollow Bluesbirds of that era were just renamed Aristocrats (which they already reissue) though there might have been a few with a little bit of extra wood between the bridge and tail pin.

I'm not too excited about a reissue of the fully solid Bluesbirds from the late 70's. A heavily chambered guitar with a spruce top would be cool. Maybe a later Bluesbird with an option spruce top. Of course that means the price of original chambered Bluesbirds would go through the roof...

Grot has a Nightingale, I've had it in my hands... I have dibs if he ever sells it!

Actually, a hollow Bluesbird would be really simple to reissue. Fix the lead mini-hum and have a run of Aristocrats with bigger routed tops. I may end up doing that anyway.

Or, if Guild wants to reissue something closer to my particular Bluesbird, use the bridge reissue anti-hum in the neck position too. :semi-twins:

More seriously: a regular production NS Aristocrat with humbuckers, whether they call it a Bluesbird or not, seems like a no-brainer.

As long as they don't use the wrongly aligned jig which NH used to make the GSR M-75...Otherwise I loved the idea of the GSR M-75.
