First of all, hello, this is my first post! I've been wanting a semi-hollow or hollow for quite sometime, specifically one of the old Starfires or T-100 D but I will not be able to afford either anytime soon so... I had a little extra cash and bought a Univox Hr-2 that is in mint condition. Should have it in a few days. Obviously, before I do anything to it I'm going to try it out as is but in the event that I'm not happy, any recommendations. I know it might be a bit of a stretch but is there anything I can do to get that old Guild sound with this thing... something in the realm of A.A. Bondy or the dude from the Felice Brothers? Here's a pic of an Hr-2 for those unaware.

According to Univox.org it's just one of their 335 copies. Any pickup recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I would get it set up and play it for a while before you make any decisions. It might sound pretty good as it is.

I agree with default. Sometmes these "cheaper" models can really rock. It may not be a "Guild" sound, but it may be something very interesting. I once had an old cheap Hagstrom that played very hot with a great neck. Another one I should have kept...
