Some 6418 low voltage pentodes used in military and hearing aid applications as well as some 5703WB’s which were used in a tube based Maxon overdrive pedal. Will get out the breadboard and see what I can come up with. They’re direct heated tubes so the cathode and the heater are one and the same so I’ll have to see about how it gets it’s bias and perhaps how to hack it for cathode bias if possible.

Or you can make mini tube screamer pedals with real mini tubes.

Yeah that’s where my mind went, too. Lots of portable headphone amp projects out there.
That’s been a heavy consideration ever since my Vox headphone amp finally kicked the bucket after 13 years of use.

It’s doable. The current draw of these isn’t very high like the 12v 12AJ6 space charge tube I tried to use for a boost.

Lol! I figured that. I was just joking.
It’s definitely not impossible I mean Maxon made an OD with the same submini’s I bought. I don’t have one on hand so I can’t see how much influence the valve has but they run the plates at 35v so probably like you see in a BK Butler starved plate design.
