Holy double wow!
If that's going to become the going rate on e-bay I may have to sell mine. That's more than double what I paid for each of them.

Something strikes me as fishy about that auction. Looking at the bid history, after it reached a "normal" value for a bluesbird, the bidding took off between just two bidders. Either two stubborn and prideful guys without much sense, or someting fishy about the bidding. Like maybe the seller changed his mind and had a acquaintance "win" it for him. I don't know, it just seems crazy.

Our own guildzila was tracking Bluesbird ebay auctions for a while.
Maybe he has some thoughts.

It could be that or just someone got auction fever and just had to have that one. If eBay catches you using a shill bidder you are done with them.

Anyone want to bet that we see this one relisted in the future? With the warning...Don't bid unless you intend to pay?

Did you all read the messages the seller posted? I wonder if that international buyer who tried to give an alternate US address got back in somehow. Maybe by proxy? Not necessarily connected, but that message was posted on 11/21 and that's when the winning bidder first got in on the action. I'd watch for this one to show up again. Or who knows, maybe there's a sob story behind it and the buyer is recovering their long-lost love. Maybe they'll show up here and regale us all with their heart-warming story of reunion.

Nah!!! ;)

Probably will crash and burn.

Heck, you can get both my Bluesbird Setzer AND it's sister FS46CE Setzer together, with their cases, for not much more than that. :D

Things may start going south as soon as the message comes in about the buyer being from Nigeria and the need to forward $500 so that they can get the money out of the bank.

Re: Bluesbird in UK eBay

Yep - I think that's way too much. I saw a gold top go on the UK eBay site for about £850 - that about $1400. That sounded about right compareed to a similar Les Paul that most people would compare it with. The Guilds seem to be running at about 60-70% of what an equivalent Gibson would cost - which still makes them outstanding value. I'd rather have a Satrfire than a 335 - but that Gibson log seems to just pull guys in.
