I read somewhere that the necks on the Blues 90 have a much deeper C shape than most guilds and that would be a very good thing for me. Can anyone characterize the neck contour and the width of the neck at the nut?

Thanks

Yes, it's true..my 2000 Westerly Blues 90 has got a big chunky C shaped neck contour.
It is quite meaty and I find it perfect for me as I have medium-big hands with long fingers and so don't fancy slim necks very much.
This neck is similar to vintage 1959 Les Pauls ( not that I ever had the luck of playing one, but I have an early '90s reissue( C shaped neck but a little bit slimmer ,and I played some pricey Custom Shop reissues some months ago ,and they have that kind of big neck) ,it feels full and big in your hand and the fretboard is wide and strings are well spaced.
My other electric Guilds ( both from the mid '60s ) have very comfortable necks but a bit slimmer, but I still find them very easy to play. So is my acoustic D25: has got quite a chunky neck as well. My late Eighties D50 is the one with the slimmer neck that I find more difficult to play. I had to get used to it and it took me months, and some modifications( a wider spaced nut ,a taller bone saddle) and still it's not very comfortable to play for my hands dimension, though the sound is superb.

Andy Hiwatt,

Thanks for the lowdown. I went ahead & pulled the trigger on a Blues 90. I'm really anxious to get it plugged in, but it won't be here for a few days. I have large hands & long fingers, so wide necks and chunky necks are appealing. Wide, chunky necks are heaven. We'll see ....

Congratulations Chris!! :D :D
You won't be disappointed with that Blues 90, the tone chambers make it light and very resonating, almost acoustic-like unplugged, and the neck is really well built and contoured for long fingers.
Post a picture and some impressions when you get it.
