I've been futzing around with the pickups on the 1969 Starfire IV and I think I've got them dialed in. I also have a Gretsch 5120 with a Bigsby. Over the years I've thought about a putting a Bigsby on the Starfire but after having the Gretsch for a while I am now sold. Which Bigsby? Their website say B11 but B6 also looks like it'd work. I think the issue is being long enough to get close to the bridge to have a decent angle. Any put on on a 1967 or later Starfire IV?

I think the original Guild-branded Bigsby's on the SF Vs and VIs were like the B7--like a B3 with the added front bar to increase downward pressure and increase the break angle from the bridge. In the modern Bigsby lineup, that would mean the B7, B12, or B70 would work.

Too many pics of Starfire's with Bigsby/Guildsby tailpieces this week. It's driving me crazy. Since I am tearing the guitar apart again I might as well just do it. I don't suppose anyone has one they want to sell cheap? I didn't think so. I am going to order a B7 from Stewmac along with pickguard material. I plan to use my stock Hagstrom bridge for now.

I thought about it too, but I just couldn't put a tailpiece on that didn't say Guild. They're not that easy to find - especially since I needed a gold one.

So I sold the guitar and bought one with a Guildsby. :)
