That IS cool dane. Dreadman, a poster on another forum was doing this on his own for a while. Don't know if he still does or not. And he's just a small businessman running a one person shop.

Nice to see Guild getting some press. :D

Bet they won't be D-55s.

Most likely GADs but still a very nice way to start.
I'm gonna say they'll be getting all those crazy neck CV's everyone's talking about.

Dang Tony ... beat me to it   Everybody's happy ... Guild gets a charity write-off and Kenny gets good pub (no blame attaches) ... except the kids; "how come this thing won't tune / buzzes at the 12th fret / has a cork-screw neck?

Laura at Cool Mandolin Co.( "Coolmandolin.com is the only place on the web where you can get cool, hip gear and clothes dedicated to our favorite instrument." ) has a similar program donating mandolins for students. No particular brand but they take playable donations or money to buy instruments.
“The new cure for Mandolin Acquisition Syndrome”

Cool Mandolin Company is excited to announce the beginning of a new program called “Cool Mandolins for Kids”.
Do you have a gently-used mandolin at home that would make a child really happy? If so, we’d love for you to send it to us. We’ll find a young picker that’s in need of one and send it directly to them. It won’t cost anyone a cent. We won’t take any fees and we’ll pay the shipping fee to the recipient.
We LOVE the mandolin and we want to help promote it to the next generation of “mandolin legends'
