I bought a 1921 Gibson Tenor banjo at a great antique store. I paid about 375. for it. I found out the vintage by writing Gibson. It turned out that I wasn't much of a banjo player. There wasn't much of a market for these back then, early 90s? I ended up breaking about even when I listed it on eBay. But it's a good memory.

It was this receipt that got me a warranty neck reset on my '73 D50 after 37 years back in 2010.

Of course, what Sam Ash failed to disclose to me at the time I bought it was that the guitar wasn't new, and had a previous, and poorly done neck reset performed before I bought it. I played that guitar for many years with a bad neck angle, and was too stupid to know the difference. Of course, I had never heard of a stand or humidification back then either, and it a good thing the guitar was built like a tank. Miraculously, while it has a whole lot of scars, it's never had a crack.

The tuners that came with the J-40 were a one-piece metal strip with three tuners on each side. I had these replaced with a regular set of tuners.
