What's it doing in New London? Is Mr. Bollman local? Is Lyman Allyn known for music?

(I've been to New London and Groton but most of the trips were vising friends who are no longer in the area or related to "the Sound Lab". If I made a trip today I think there are some Pequot War sites in the larger region I'd probably check out).

I wasn’t able to find a lot of information about it on their website. I suspect Mr. Bollman is local. The Lyman Allyn isn’t especially known for music but they are very much a local gem.

Jim Bollman is local to the Boston area (Lexington, last I heard) and was for many years part owner of the Music Emporium in that town, one of New England's premier stringed instrument shops. (I've been shopping there since the late '70s, three locations ago.)

Jim has one of the finest collections of rare banjos in the world. I've been to his house and seen his collection -- mind-blowing!

He's also the author (with Philip Gura) of *America's Instrument: The Banjo in the 19th Century*, one of the very best books ever on the history of the instrument, unfortunately out-of-print.

Thanks for posting this -- I didn't know about the exhibit but will go check it out for sure!
