I was in OKC for the first time in two years a couple of weeks ago. That town is growing! Guess that's how they landed the NBA franchise...

Hi Joe; In the mid-80s, the Bullets acquired Gus Williams but he wasn't enough to help the them get over the Hayes/Unseld years. I think he sort of invented Gary Payton who recently finished up down here with the Miami Heat.

Just crazy, isn't it. How I wish I could send Russ and Kenny some of this weather. It's rained here for the past 4 days. Last night we had 6" of rain, and today 5". The creeks are swollen and there is area flooding. All I can think about are the folks in the Austin/San Antonio area and wish I could send them half of this. Seems like Ken told me Canyon Lake was down over 20' or something. I know Lake Travis is way down and I'm sure all of the Hill Country lakes are.....getting pretty bad down there. Our forecast shows 10 more consecutive days with rain in the cards, highly unusual this time of the year. The weather man chalks it up to El Nino.

getting weaker by the minute and no one has A/C. I can play only slow tunes this evening.

Just a little north of you Joe, and same hot stuff, 'with no end in sight'. Hope the fire situation stays under control...tonight I'm just humming some tunes to my Guilds.... Steffan

107 here today. Boys, that is cookin' for western Oregon, 109 forecast for tomorrow - i've been here for 50 years and can't remember it this warm before. What gets me are the nights - it didn't drop below 80 'til the morning - the little cheesebox window A/C unit ran all last night and will again for a couple more. Usually even in the hot spells it drops to the upper 50's/low 60's by sunup.

I don't know how you Southerners can take it - hats (and shirt, socks, etc.) off to you!

They mentioned on the radio this morning that we are experiencing the hottest July ever in the San Antonio area (that's saying something!) and today we tie the record (36) for the most 100 degree plus days. 100s forecast as far as they can see. Still no rain. Brutal is the only way to describe it. I'm ready to put a rubber liner in Pam's truck and come up your way for some water, West...

On the plus side, I'm still blessed with a job, great fam and several Guilds. Life is good and I have no right to complain...

After a record-setting all-time high temp on Wednesday, this morning is noticeably cooler with a predicted high of 77. That's more like it and that's why we live here.
Now, if we can just get a rainy day or three....

We shall overcome,
Joe

Best wishes to all our western friends for a rapid return to normal. Meanwhile, here in the Great Lakes region, we've had only a few summery days so far. Mostly cloudy with below-normal temps & plenty of rain.

Ahh, blessed with another summer day in western Oregon. The land is green, the sky is blue and the warm wonderful power of the sun! Let's hope some of it spreads your way Ross...
