I like how the back stripe was added around 1970 and then deleted again during the Benedetto era (2000s). Also, note how the heel shape became rounder beginning in the 1980s.

And according to GAD's wonderful catalog collection, the AAs in the1960-70s used "curly" maple, then "flame" or "curly" maple in the 1980s and "German" maple in the 1990s. The Benedetto era used "Euro" maple and "German" maple. But, of course, who knows if the catalogs are accurate with regard to the German and Euro maple.

It almost bugs you that it’s in the back where the audience can’t really see it.
