Beautiful Artist Award neck for sale, NOS leftover from the Westerly factory. Quite the trophy piece for display! or else use for your AA project.

the front is gorgeous, like brand new (just no finish on the headstock, no nut, no frets, no TRC).

the back needs sanding and finishing, if used for a guitar project.

there is a piece of binding missing from the but end of the fret board where it sits on the body. i may have a line on a matching piece, but i'm not sure. this sale does not include any binding for said end of fretboard (but we can look into that later).

inside the truss rod cavity in pencil is written "JT 6-99."

$450 plus shipping, friends and family pp. I will throw in a NOS TRC from Westerly, which I am pretty sure I have. (if not will sweeten the deal equally with something else).

just the NOS binding alone may be worth that much, but this I would not part out. A piece of history for sure!

thanks!

Very cool! Jeff Tougas shaped that neck.
Now somebody could recreate an AA-82 "John Denver model" when doing a neck reset on a Westerly F-50R!

I do not believe this neck can be used on a flat top acoustic like that. Would likely either need major modification, or cannot be done at all. I am no expert so possibly I am wrong...I just don't see how a neck for a skinny archtop would be a drop in fit for a deep bodied flat top. One could simply remove the headstock from this neck, and remove the headstock from a an F-50R, and install this headstock on the F-50R- that may work! But again, I am not suggesting anyone do that.

I have a potential sale pending with a forum member, however it occured to me I did not post photos of the bindings, for all to see. So here they are, before I pack her up for shipping quotes.

I also don't know if that neck would fit a F-50, but regarding the length of the heel it would be not too difficult to create and add a matching piece of 5 pieces to the bottom to get to the depth of the body. That's a small cosmetical problem on the neck heel at the end. And you would need to remove the maple from under the fretboard where it sits on the spruce top as that part is very different from a flat top guitar. The dovetail needs to be patched up anyway for a neck reset so you just add shims left and right to built it up to mach the body cutout. So wood work is not too difficult if you have the tools to do it. That's just my opinion and I'm not a luthier... Now if scale length matches that of a F-50 is a different story, I simply don't know how different an AA neck from a F-50 neck is.

Well, also, to make it into a JD model, I think a maple neck would not be right.

But, it'd still be totally cool! :D :D Anyone have an F-50R body for sale??

:D

Didn't even think about this! A rosewood body with a maple neck... Well, since it is almost impossible finding an AA neck you can always stain in to mahogany color at least, this way hiding any potential neck heel work...Well, all theory...
