Does anybody else have those days when almost nothing that you play sounds good, or feels right?

Is it my ears? Fingers? Karma?

I'm working on a little (seemingly simple) recording project and I just can't seem to get it right!

So, I say again, "Arrgghh!!"

As per John Denver:

Some days are diamonds, some days are stone
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes the cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds, some days are stones

This, too, shall pass....good times ahead

You always seem to work through things just fine, Dave. Looking forward to your next one...

When was the last time you changed the diaphragms in your microphones?

Thanks, Toni. A few inspirational words might be just what I need.

Or maybe a six-pack.

I think that we all have those days once in a while. For me, I just put the guitar away and come back to it either later in the day or a few days later.

Funny thing is that my guitars also seem to have bad days once in a while.

Thanks, TMG. I'll hit it again tomorrow.

I think I'm just distracted. I'm in the process of finding an assisted living facility down here for my parents, then to move them down, then to deal with their belongings, then to sell their house... and on it goes.

Time to use that 6-pack. When you've got a couple of hours to spare, that is. Oh, now I get it...

I think we all have days like that Dave, and it's good to know that tomorrow is another day. Good luck with your parents; I sure wish I still had mine around.

Yeah, this too shall pass. Sometimes it happens.

Good luck with your folks! Been there and done that, I'm sure they appreciate all you're doing for them.

What TMG said.
Happened to me many times before, I go back to the same settings I had previously, and the sound coming out has nothing to do with what I had before... When it doesn't want to cooperate, I just put the guitar down, grab an acoustic and work my frustration on it, until I feel ike messin with the electronics again!
That's when it's good not to have to pay studio fees!!!!

Thanks for all the nice encouragement, everyone. As you've said, sometimes it's best to just put the Guilds down and walk away for a while.

Well, today was a better day, I think, and I'll probably post the song a bit later. :D

That's a terribly hard thing to have to do Dave...I sometimes think all we get to keep are our memories, and in some cases, not even that....but sometimes we need outside help to get the job done, especially if they are getting unable to look after themselves...take care...Steffan
