Guys, A 'Fruit' is cockney rhyming slang. It is short for 'fruit gum' rhymes with 'chum', that is friend or mate. Indians, sub continent not your local red indian, learnt their english from everybody they contacted including cockney Londoners and expanded the 'fruit' to 'frutee'as in rupee.
Now I could refer to you all as 'chinas'. China plate= mate.
As for Sperzals, Darryl it sounds like they havn't changed much!
Coastie,I have surely come across some pretty Grottoh tuners in my time but those look like Grovers to me!
Au revoir.

Tuners in the auction are not Grover Statites, they're Waverleys. These come on some 50's Guilds too, and a lot of 50's and 60's Gretsch guitars. I don't like them much (they look fine, but perform eh...well...)

Fellers,

I've been cruising the net to find out about Grover Sta-Tites, Westerly, etc. I didn't find out anything about the particular type tuners in the ebay auction above. But I have found out that Grover Sta-Tites aren't as highly regarded as Waverly tuners that look like Sta-Tites. Also I found one site that said Gotoh's Sta-Tite look-alikes are a great deal.

I just happen to have this picture of the Gotoh tuners on my CO1. Somehow I recall hearing they were Waverly copies. Don't look like copies of the tuners Darryl's looking at.

Good tuners though, slick & smooth, maybe not finished as nicely. These particular Gotoh's have a finer gear ratio, I count 15 teeth on the ring gear & 13 (Or so?)on the Ebay tuners.
