Anyone seen this before? (Finish separating near edge with binding)

Picked up my SF-4 the other day and noticed this along the lower bout cutaway:

At first I thought it was binding separating (and pulling the finish with it), but I can't get the bidning to budge at all, no matter how much force I use. It's almost like a zig zag crack that follows the edge between wood and binding. Another thing: I could *swear* it looked worse last night.

Any thoughts on a cause?
Thx!

Temp or humidity extremes possibly? Disparate coefficients of expansion between wood and binding?

That was my first guess, but the house is temp and humidity controlled so fairly constant. And they don't leave the room.
That being said, it has been REALLY hot AND humid the past few days, which might explain why it looked worse last night than today.

Is it possible it's been there for a while and just now noticed or a bit worse last night as you said?

It's possible that it's been there but not as noticeable. I guess if it WAS there, it's certainly worse now.

Finish shrinking at different rates over the top vs. the binding? If binding's shrinking for example that'd "pull" the finish away from the top wood. Similar to when NCL gradually sinks into the grain depressions on a top through shrinkage, and at some point might split along those depressions.

I've seen a similar finish issue with the fretboard binding of my DV-72MK... and the binding on one side did eventually come loose. Others have mentioned their DV-7Xs show something similar, as well...
