I started 2 yrs ago I love it but slow to get going .

wish I lived closer to large water ways that are more isolated.

I I bought two kayaks for me and my son both are sun dolphins mine is the journey maybe both are . Lol mines a 12 ft his is 10 .

both have fishing setups . Mine can’t track worth a hoot my sons is fine his has two nice molded fins on the back mine is just a pointy bow and stern .

anyway a friend at work is into kayaks and has a few the one that caught my eye was his Malibu banana yellow thick hull and moves and tracks very well .

I decided it’s time for a upgrade and Malibu was on my mind for the last year . The model that best fits my needs and wants is the X-13 .

yeah that name was cool so I had to have it .lol. Then Covid hit and everything went south and this is where I just ordered my new Yak .

I bought it on a credit plan but the thing is they didn’t have the kayak . Now they also didn’t tell me this . As Covid rolled on I’m wondering where my kayak is . I call and email the company first time they there looking into it after that no answers no replies .

ok this is annoying but not fully enough until I started getting payment bills for the kayak I’ve not received! My way of doing business is you don’t pay if we don’t have it when we get it and ship it then we bill. Sounds fair to me?

So after logging a formal complaint to the credit place and the supplier I got the order cancelled .

so instead of a kayak I bought more guitars lol but I still wanted that dang kayak . So I keep searching and checking out the manufacturer but the kayak was fading fast no one had one .

I also wanted the yellow one but poof all gone . Malibu webs site seemed like all’s great check out these kayaks find a dealer etc . I tried calling Malibu number won’t go through tried their local number no longer in service .

I can’t believe they just shut their doors . Kayak sales like many other recreational things were selling like hot cakes sure delays were expected but production was still going on . So what the heck happened to a major player like Malibu?

I tried calling listed dealers and they say they have no idea what happened they up and got gone .

since I stuck in the hospital bored off my butt I knew of one X-13 on Amazon it’s not yellow but the only one I could find so I said screw it and bought it . Lol

anyway let see some pics of your yaks and adventures 😊

here’s Amazon photo of the X-13 and some pics of my earlier adventures.

Great photos, Ray! I no longer have one but grew up on a lake and we had canoes, kayaks, sailboats. Great way to spend time with kids!

Congratulations on the new kayak. Sorry you didn't get the color you wanted but it looks like your new one has at least some yellow on it. Hope you'll be fixed up and ready to try it out real soon.

Nice pictures. I would be afraid of dropping my camera/phone in the water! How old is your son now? Does he still do dishes? I remember when he was about 9 you were going to trade him for a guitar, or sell him so you could buy a guitar, and added "he does dishes". I thought it was funny.

Will you be able to leave the hospital tomorrow?

You might be able to get more than one guitar for him at this point!

Been kayaking for years but more in line with traditional sea kayaks. I live within an hour or two of the best lakes and rivers in the Adirondacks and have a small holding near Wanakeena.

I've spent several 5-7 day trips out of them. Sea kayaks aren't the best for fishing like yours but it can be done.

You think guitars are habit forming?????

EDIT: Ray where do you live? Or rather what river is that?? Looks like fun

Need to need to hook up for paddling .
the X13 is a ocean kayak but not like the thin long types . Not sure my knees could handle getting one of those .
That’s just back water from high rock lake . River that feeds is yadkin river .

New river is not bad that towards the mountains but that’s one of two trucks things one to drop you off the other to bring you back lol

I’d love to get back up north to the rivers and lakes . Water down here is mud city .

Was whitewater kayaking when in GA (North GA & TN) mostly class 2 to 4 rivers.
I kept this one because it is a "hybrid" kayak that is very decent in whitewater, but can still be used on calm waters thanks to a removable keel. The black string that you see on the back is what pulls the keel up and down, you drop it down and it becomes a very nice tracking kayak, pull it up and you get all the manoeuvrability needed in those fast waters:

A trip on the Loxahatchee river is always magic. Brings you back to a time before the white man "take over":

And yes, you always pass few of those on the way:

Haven't you watched Tarzan? Those things will knock your boat over so they can eat you!! Okay I know Tarzan had crocodiles and those are alligators (I hope) but close enough!

On my windsurfers was a retractable "daggerboard" which likely served a similar purpose.

Oh well.... I'll do whatever Tarzan did. I'm sure he made it out fine. Right?....
Actually of all the times I went by one of those, (and there are dozens) I only felt "uneasy" once: A female that was laying on the bank exactly like the one pictured above, but she was not alone.... she had 4 or 5 babies no longer than a foot, crawling all over her back.
I hesitated a while before I went by her, wondering what the worse could happen between me and a wild prehistoric animal equipped with a golf ball size brain and wired to eliminate anything she construes as a threat to her litter, but hell, I had to go home. Or try at least.
So I started paddling as quietly as I could, feeling her cold, black stare send chills to my spine, I got as close as about 12 feet away from her at the closest point, and I must say I was very happy and relieved that she never decided to do anything with me other than staring. 😰

You didn't happen to be wearing your purple leotards, did you? With the chartreuse T? Dude, that clashes.
She couldn't see my bottom half anyway, inside the kayak.
No I think she was just lacking a bit in good manners... staring at strangers like that!

But it was the fluorescent chartreuse T, then? The one that caused the car collision(s) while you were biking a couple of years back?

Ten to one she had a bad experience with a fluorescent chartreuse T-shirt and was permanently scarred by the experience.

Or possibly simply blinded and hypnotized?
