I'm looking for a fingerstyle guitar. I use fingerpicks ( or not). The A 25 Seems awful cheap but I know Guilds just are. Do you have one or any expierence with one? I'd like to know.

Got a little experience with one. We bought Coastie one last year and kept her a few months before seeing her off to New Zealand. Spent several evenings with her.

Do you miss it? It's hard to find a OO size guitar with a 12" radius. I don't need another dog though if you know what I mean. Its hard enough to get a new one in the house without the other ones tearing it up.

I really like mine a lot. However, the action is a bit too high, and I'm not sure if it needs a neck re-set or something. Might take it to a real good luthier at some point to get an opinion because it's just not as comfortable as it should be. But, man... very sweet tones. Resonant, clear and fairly punchy for a little guy. Sounds great fingerpicked, even though I suck at it.

At some point I'll do a comparison between the A25 and Martin 000-15... which is already long overdue.

By the way, I believe the A25 is also 000 or OM sized. If you can find one for $600 or under, I'd say that is a steal because it is a close comparison to the 000-15 (which is a bit pricier and also a fine guitar).

I owned one for a short while and it's one of the only few guitars I wish I still had. It wasn't the greatest strummer (still decent though), but it was a great, sweet sounding, finger style guitar.

Note that it was more of a 000/OM than a 00 though. Also not that the short lived "Studio" model from American Acoustech was a very similar guitar (and designed by the same guys who designed the A25/A50).

I had one for a year or so - it was one of the satin-finished ones. It was a nice guitar and the fingerboard was comfortable but it didn't speak to me much. I'm not sure if it was the finish - which I think is thinner than a gloss finish and didn't dampen the sound the same way - or the guitar itself. Very nice instrument, but hearing it against a Seagull acoustic w/the same kind of finish...sounded like the Seagull!

Some of the GAD series are sweet - the F30/F30R's are a bit more bright and brash but deeper lows too, and they have the wider fingerstyle-friendly fingerboards and go for around what you'd find an A25 for.

I played one w/a gloss finish a while back, and that one sounded more Guild-like to me. If I could have bought that one I'd probably have kept it...

The one thing about these - the A25 and A50 - is the OHSC that came with them is built like a freakin' tank! Wrong size for anything but that body shape/size (both have cut off bottoms as compared to a standard OM-size) but stout as all get out.
