I have nothing against Elixir strings, and to be honest, if I were playing gigs on tour, they probably would be my go to strings. But as it is, I don't play gigs and I don't tour, so playing at home, I have a certain acoustic tone that I am looking for, and Elixirs don't provide that. I would only hope that they could, because who wouldn't like to be able to get the same tone on a set of strings for six to nine months. They don't though, and the loss in high frequencies, and in many cases, in the mids, is not acceptable to me. If they provide the tone you want, then by all means, use them. I have no issues with other people using them, and I wouldn't even try to dissuade others from using them; I can only decide what sounds good to me, not for others. They can decide for themselves. I was using GHS Signature Bronze strings at the time (Laurence Juber lights then, Americana series now), and the sonic difference was extremely noticeable to me. and not in a good way for the E;ixirs. So, simply, I chose to use the strings that sounded best to me. How somebody percieves that, is up to them, but having a preference for a better sounding string in my book is not "hatred". I don't like a lot of strings, that doesn't mean I hate them, or that they are "bad" strings, they just don't have the sound I am looking for. Or are you suggesting that people purposely buy strings that don't sound good to them, just because of their marketing hype/features/current popularity?I'm just not sure why people hate Elixir strings so much. Not so bright at first... then they break in and sound great. Then they last a LONG TIME. It's just a hate campaign that i don't understand. But what you want. String what you want.... jeeze....
