We just grabbed a couple of tickets to Jackson Browne's solo act show, coming here in May. Has anybody seen this? I've always admired his songwriting, but I don't think of him as a solo guitar act.

I like his first solo album, and would most certainly go see him if he came around here. It's a great album, and would imagine his show is great too.

I also enjoyed his first solo album of a few years ago . . . IIRC the CD artwork includes a photo of about a dozen guitar cases lined up near the stage. One guitar per song, maybe?

Good piano playing on that album, too. Last time I saw him perform was probably the early 1980's, though. 8)

His guitarist, Mark Goldenberg, is a helluva a picker. I've had the opportunity to play with Mark a number of times and it is just a blast. He's a great person and a fantastic musician. Been with Jackson for many, many years and is a staple in the LA music scene. And JB ain't no slouch either. A great songwriter, singer and musician.

Well then, it sounds like a good show. And in a relatively small venue, too.

But I was kind of assuming that solo meant just Mr. Browne.

I think his For Everyman album ranks up there as one of my favorite albums.

Speaking of JB, about six months ago a friend and I happen to catch Him at LARGO, a small club in West Hollywood.
He was the unannounced " and friends" of a singer I hadn't heard of who was doing a showcase.

From what I gather, He does this a lot, just drops in to play on a weeknight. Got there early, and had to wait as there were only three people besides us in the audience. Sat in the first row and watched Him tune and retune an old Gibson. Evening finally started with about forty folks in the audience.

What was interesting, was that on this particular evening, He only played Warren Zevon songs.....which was great, as I'm a big WZ fan.

Dave, I'm with you on "Late For The Sky". Awesome album!! When I saw Shawn Colvin at the Strand, she tried to coax Jackson Browne out of the audience to play with her, but she was unsuccessful. I was kinda sorry he wasn't up to it.... would have been a fun combo.
