I just did a web search on Givson. They're still in business! Turns out the model I have is a "Crown" -- here's a link.
The hilarious part of Givson is that they warn "respected customers" of fake Givsons !!! :ROFLMAO:

How 'bout a G-shield VORG?! "Several in the world"!

And for those on a budget, here's a Chesterfield RIDER -- save 700 bucks! (And best of all: "Octave tuning? No Problem!" Normally you'd have to spring for a 12-string to obtain such a feature.)

dreadnut,
Save your shekels and buy a real _________________(enter the name of your favorite instrument brand) guitar!
Why limit good advice to Guildsters? The Gibsonians, Martians, Taylersters et al deserve at least as much.

May have something to do with the Forum he is posting on....

Yeah I get that, but this post was about fake Guilds.

It is true that you can buy a vintage USA Guild for less money, but when it comes to Martin copies, the equation becomes much simpler. $1000's for a 70's D28 that can be a bit underwhelming, or under a grand for a good Yamaki that might really surprise you tonewise compared to the real deal.

Like this one I had shipped straight from Japan for maybe $700 total?

The guitar is gorgeous, and tonally I'm so impressed with it. It's big, bold, bright, loud. It walks all over some USA guitars.

I have white Guild bridge pins/endpin in it now, it looks a bit more traditional.
I'm envious of this.

I have to ask, how did you know it was going to be worth your $700? Did you just take a flyer on it? What made the risk worthwhile?

Here's a fake Guild I knowingly picked up a while back, It's pretty well done actually. I caught some flack from members here for doing that and maybe that's appropriate but I did it for two, well three actually, specific reasons and it is also a nice sounding and looking guitar. Koa back and sides. It also has the low profile electronics like I've had on a few of my Martins over the years.
