So now that I am investigating getting a classical guitar, I have gotten into Charlie Byrd, too - very cool stuff!

Here's my question - there is a "G-5P" Guild classical guitar on eBay right now - "Made in Spain by Guild" according to the seller. I have a 1980's catalog (the time frame claimed by the seller) which has Mark III, IV, and V, but I cannot find anything on this model. Is it a quality guitar? Anyone have one?

Here's the link:

Thanks, walrus

These guitars or some like them made in Spain came up a while back. Try searching the forum you might be able to find Hans' comments.

Oh heck, just type Spain in the search & several references come up..

Rosewood back & sides to me would be a check mark in the positive column for quality. Seems they go fairly reasonable.

Thanks for that link, Jeff - duh!! I should have searched first!

So, sounds like a good score if the price stays reasonable. It is interesting that there is a glut of classicals on eBay right now - 3 Mark II's and this "G5-P".

Thanks, walrus

Go look at Alhambra 5-P reviews in Harmony Central to get the specs on the Alhambra made in Spain Guilds. Very interesting guitars. Very pretty guitars, but likely the rosewood is laminate, not solid.
