Since folks here are pretty good at ferreting out Guilds for sale in obscure places I present the (US) Government Services Auction site.

I did not find any Guilds but much to my amusement there are 10 Yamaha guitars available as a lot - 7 new and 3 used.

(Click quickly because the auction will be over by December 9 2022)

Isn’t that for confiscated items from law enforcement?

A picture would sure be nice. Never used this myself. I’m not sure if there is any protection compared to other online or traditional auction sites. I guess they don’t really want to ship some things and are more geared up for local sales.

No. That's different. This is for things that the Government bought and doesn't need any more.

I’m gonna have an aneurism holding back the snark regarding where the government got the money to buy things being offered for me to buy.

Definitely your tax dollars making a last gasp at working.

Better than the asset forfeiture though. There is corruption and cases where the seized assets we even sold before trial and not returned when a Not Guilty on all charges verdict was rendered.

GAD - GSA does not consolidate their materials (usually) so things get warehoused at or close to the point of use. The listing notes a VA hospital warehouse so it is possible they were acquired for a rehab program of some type so maybe not as wasteful as could be... (I said maybe  )

If you look at more than the guitar listing it becomes clear that the items are located at various Government facilities around the country. The expectation is that the bidder will physically visit the location for any pre-purchase inspection and to pick up after purchase. This is basically surplus stuff in warehouses and store rooms. The requirements for appointments and such are pretty much there to allow the facility to do its usual Visitor Control policies. The No Help and No Shipping polices are pretty much there because at this point there is no budget for them. The items are destined for the trash, and there is a budget for that. This is just a way to see if there is any cash value still left.
