So somebody has contacted me about purchasing a bunch of "Guild concept" drawings.
I'm posting a just a few here for a ruling from the Guild jury as to their authenticity.
Hans, Hideglue, DrumBob, what do you think?
Thanks,
Kurt
Hello Kurt,
Hideglue was not around at the time (although he might have seen the drawings) and Drumbob was not around anymore during the dates those drawings were made. Actually, Drumbob never worked at the factory.
I'm familiar with those drawings; they were found in the trash bin at Guild, and they are legit.
I have not been able to figure out yet whose initials those were. I have asked several people who were around at the time but they didn't recognize them. Gilbert on the D-25C drawing is Gilbert Diaz.
One of the drawings is clearly the Pilot bass and the date fits in with the introduction of the model.
The 6/14/83 date on the drawing of the D-25C is a little weird because the first D-25C was already built earlier than that.
I think I've seen most of them and there's another weird concept in those drawings that actually made it to the 'prototype' stage but it didn't go into production.
The drawings are fun to look at but there's not a whole lot we can learn from them except that at the time they obviously didn't have a professional designer at Guild.
Sincerely,
Hans Moust
