Since FMIC stopped using the DeArmond name circa 2005 is there any possibility that FMIC no longer had the rights (or defended the rights) to the name outside of the USA?
FMIC owned the brandname until 2014 when it was sold to CMG.

Ralf

So the operative question was whether FMIC was actively defending the brand name, trademark or intellectual property across the globe. But since it was just speculation to provide an alternative explanation...

Interesting links, Ralf. Reading through - I'm seeing references to pickups, but not guitars,
unless I'm missing it.

Edit - found. Now I have to wonder why
some version of the classic DeArmond script isn't featured here.

Also noting at least two very different versions of the logo used on the guitars.

2nd edit - so the script logo does appear, but elsewhere - perhaps this is what remains of the original trademark filing?

Current logo usage of the logo from the DeArmond website, which looks similar to the script
that appears engraved on the face of the DeArmond Gold tone pickups.
