In the Buy, Sell, Trade section I posted I was looking for a 14 fret OM Orpheum, and after a few weeks I got a personal message from someone in the forum indicting they had one for sale. They sent me their email address, and quickly provided pictures of a nice pristine OM Orpheum.
As I started to work through the typical questions, I asked to set up a call at their convenience so we could discuss more details and I provided them my phone number. Instead of agreeing to a call they kept probing me for my specific questions, texting me the answers, and saying they were tied up with work and would not be able to talk? ...All of this seemed a little odd. I had communicated I would work around their schedule, but the way they responded to my questions and their avoidance of any call seemed strange for someone selling a guitar? Oh well.
Also, while researching details on the OM Orpheum I found the same photos I had received from the seller on a European website? That wasn't necessarily a problem either, but once again it seemed odd since the seller said he was in Indiana?
I asked for additional photos showing the interior tag, the original case and paperwork, and the grain pattern below the bridge since these were not in the pictures provided.
What I received next were pictures of another guitar!
I'm positive they didn't realize what they had done, but they sent me photos of a slope shoulder Orpheum. Even the tag indicated it was a slope shoulder. Of course I never followed through with any other steps after that, but it was disappointing to say the least.
At some point I'm sure our moderators will put this post in another section, but unfortunately I needed to quickly make you aware that not everyone lurking around on the forum may be on up-and-up.
Be careful and all the best,
Robert
