Kitty fur and finishing do not mix. (It is highly unlikely that there will not be at least one small bit of Nica fur in the finish as it is.)
I haven't banished her but once she got a whiff of the alcohol in the rubber, she wants no part of it. Maloof has been watching the process from the hall from time to time.
But here are a couple of recent pics outside the workroom.

French polishing is going to drive me to the grave. Or Graves.
While Everclear is the traditional alcohol of choice for making shellac, I went with a little more cost effective option. Of course, since all 190 proof grain alcohol is illegal to buy in Ohio I had to get it smuggled in from New York state.

That's neat. I didn't know we had any grain alcohol fermenters here in Boston!

While I am a lifelong teetotaler, at my undergrad college some of the fraternities (none of which I joined) would have "ozone" parties; ozone being Everclear and grape Kool aid.

In Lappland - Finnish Lappland - there is this recepy of how to mix coffee w alcohol. . .
Take an empty cup
Put a coin on the bottom
Pour coffee until the coin is no more visible
Pour alcohole untill the coin is clearly visible again
Enjoy
