With dots this tiny, just a bog standard drill bit. The hole is the exact diameter as the pearl, so after adding in a drop of medium CA glue, the dots are hammered in with a plastic headed fret hammer. Any space underneath from the conical tip will hold glue, a good thing.

One of the little, but critical, jobs to do before glueing on the fingerboard: making an access hole for the truss rod. One good things about an Allen key adjustable rod is that it can be fairly minimal.

Final job for the night is to glue in the small bridge that fills the gap over the end of the truss rod, locking it in, and provides a solid base for the nut.

Getting the fingerboard positioned just so. Running through a mental checklist to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. I debated on installing the side dots first, but since they won't extend over the body, I'll wait. Easier when there's plenty of supporting wood underneath.
I'll use a couple of small nails through the fret slots to register the position and make it safer during glue up. Don't want it sliding out of position under clamping pressure.

Sometimes it’s the little jobs that take the most time. Especially when you're trying to fit a small piece with different angled surfaces.
