That is the Evaporator coil of my A/C unit crying for help ! Basically my A/C is kaput ! For the time being , depending on cost of repair there’s no guitars , car parts or life as we know it ! Lmao

It should be an easy repair. It could be you got a Freon leak and the unit has been running non-stop trying to cool your house and froze up. I've seen it a lot, but I can't recall the fix the A/C guys at work do for it. I don't think any parts need to be changed out.

Yep, they’ll just find the leak (s) and braze them shut. In the mean time, once this ice sculpture melts, don’t wipe it dry. Let it and the drip pan air dry undisturbed. Then closely inspect for any oily residue. Freon is also a lubricant and any leak will leave oily slick spots. This can save the HVAC tech a LOT of time…and you a lot of $$$. Many homeowners are inclined to wipe things clean as you would looking for a water or air leak. Or even just out of embarrassment of something being dirty before a repairman comes. Just leave it as is.

So my Guy recommended a guy because he was busy . To me it’s mind blowing but to some you it’s just a thing ( no disrespect meant ) anyway so to fix this they want 2,700 bucks to vac the system out and replace this valve . or go with a whole system for 9,000 .

I guess I’m out of touch and I’m grumpy . I was able to get my reg guy aka Bobby to
Come by with his dad both long into HVAC . He’s gunna get me some prices and maybe he save something .

Otherwise he’s a great guy and his dad as well . We laughed a lot and had a good time during the visit . It’s like we were life long friends . Anyway he had some nifty WiFi gear and an app to do all the readings , pretty cool stuff . Now we wait . lol

Unfortunately it’s seems the norm for just about everything now . Be nice if things were income based . lol higher income people have been moving here in steady flows so they price for them not factory workers in furniture and textiles which was the major industry back in day . In 96 that started fading out here in NC .

Jobs moved over seas and plants closed one after another . Many older folks and their children kind of still live in the era of that industry . Rising Costs have left these type of groups behind and me as well . lol

Hard to PIN numbers but one look up says single medium income level to live comfortable is around 86,000 I most likely will never see that . lol I’d certainly be in a better place if I was there and paying 2,700 for the repair might be more absorbable .

I’m a bit frustrated I admit maybe if I had a higher education or had my own business that took off etc things would better . There are a ton of variables to one’s level of success especially ones interpretation of success .

I could get a room mate to help out but honestly I can’t trust anyone with the keys to my home other than family . Times are way different than years ago on that side of things . Bottom line and last word on it is they there’s no balance in the system .

Please don’t bring up anything on the political side which this could easily slip into . This is just my station in life . I have my guitars I’m happy !

Update !! Well no , there’s no update I’m still without air . lol oddly Duke power says my bill 19 bucks higher then last year.

Considering I don’t use lights much or cook much or do laundry a lot nor is the pool running I guess it’s the Tv heck I don’t know ? I’m sure price hikes has nothing to do with it ?

We have a 110 volt window unit, biggest one I could find without going to 220, as AC backup and can be run with a generator when power is out. Certainly not as good as central air but way better than none!

Considering I don’t use lights much or cook much or do laundry a lot nor is the pool running I guess it’s the Tv heck I don’t know ? I’m sure price hikes has nothing to do with it ?

Can you adjust your usage to only watch TV between midnight and 4AM?
