For all you LTGer's who have encouraged my wife and I with the adoption of Jonathon, thank you! We travel to Toledo this Monday, the 29th, to go to court to finalize it. We are so looking forward to it.
We have seen such a change in him since we first brought him into our home the day after Christmas last year. What once was at least one daily temper tantrum/meltdown is now nearly non-existent. He still has moments of temperment when things don't quite go "his way", but all in all, his overall demeanor is revealing a 10 year old boy who just needed a chance to be a 10 year old boy.
And this is cool, he's already looking forward to baseball next year, loves the Cleveland Indians. I worked some long hours this week on a construction job for the Franklin County Metro Parks (Columbus, Ohio), leaving the house by 0430 and getting home most nights at 1900 hours. So one night I get home tired, drained from not having a working AC in the truck (yet) and Jonathon saids just when I get in the door, "Dad, you wanna play catch?"
I'll take that over a cold beer anyday....

Congtrats Billy. That's wonderful news.

Sounds like you and your wife are doing a wonderful parenting job with him.
I'm sure it's been very difficult at times.

And who says there's no good news out there?
AB, your feelings for Jonathon and your family have always come through big-time in your posts and I know that the best is yet to come.
We should all lift a cold one to ya' on Monday.

Happy trails to you and yours,
Joe

Hey, Coastie, I just watched Baz Lurmann's (sp?) "Austrailia" yesterday (Hugh Jackman and the ever-lovely Nicole Kidman).

Wasn't my favorite flick, but I really enjoyed the scenery. I also enjoyed the portrayal of the native Aborigines (sp?). Are there similar native tribes in NZ?

A big thumbs-up for Nicole Kidman ! Elle McFurseal's pretty yummy too !

Yes, we have natives here - the Maori. 7 different tribes arrived here, as I recall.

Not as musically talented as the Australian Aborigines though .................

:) Elle can have my babies any time. Actually, any of you can... Want some slightly used teenagers, anyone? :D

I take it that album cover is a play on ABBA, right? Is ABBO slang for something?

Yeah, "Australia" did make a big point of the innate musical ability of the Aborigines. I definitely enjoyed that part of it.

Yes and yes. Lost-ralians refer to their natives as "Abo's" ( and worse ! ). They've suffered some appalling treatment.
Gotcha' Coastie. I think I heard that word tossed around in the movie.

Well, best wishes. And, if you run into Elle or Nicole, give 'em a hug for me. ;)

I'd be glad to Chaz. Chances are though, that I'm more likely to encounter Shania ............ she has a place just down the road. No bull !!

Should I mention babies to her ?

Billy,
I talked with my sister who lives down the road from you this afternoon. She asked if you have a Soundclick site. She'd like to hear some of your Gospel music.

Also said they are planning to look you up at the Backwoods Fest in September... Best... Ken sends

Billy,

I honestly can't think of a more selfless thing to do than to adopt a child. You truly are the man.
