I'm new to this forum, did a search for info on this, but didn't come up with anything. Sorry for the long, techno-laden first post, but I'm hoping you folks have some ideas on how to tackle this:

I recently bought a used GAD-30, which came with a Fishman Matrix under-the-saddle bridge and Fishman Natural 1 electronics/end pin jack. With aggressive EQ it can sound pretty OK, but I would like to add my Baggs M1 Active pickup for more volume without feedback. In some cases I would only use the Baggs pickup with a Fishman Platinum preamp, and other times I would use both pickups with my RANE AP-13 2 channel preamp.

The Baggs M1 Active pickup has an on-board 3V battery, while the Fishman end pin jack electronics (preamp?) are powered by a separate 9V battery. I presume the batteries for both pickups are activated when a guitar cable or TRS cable is inserted into the end pin jack. I want to connect both pickups to a common, stereo end pin jack, but I don't know how to get both pickups powered, as they use different batteries.

The Fishman Matrix pickup doesn't seem to produce any sound unless I use it with the electronics in the Fishman end pin jack. The Fishman end pin jack has 2 terminals on the circuit board where I can solder the hot and ground wires of the Baggs M1 pickup. I tried this by inserting a cable into the M1 end pin jack and temporarily soldering the hot and ground to the terminals on the Fishman end pin jack. It worked fine, but I don't see how to make the M1 battery un-active when not in use. As the Fishman Matrix pickup is already installed, so I'd like to make use of that, but I'm not sure how to combine the Baggs M1 with it. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

cheers,
Dave

Welcome to LTG Dave. Kick your shoes off, relax your mind.

As to your question, I don't have a clue. I don't even have any pickups in my guitars, but I'm sure someone will come along with some ideas. joan

Thanks, Joan. My first good guitar was a Guild Starfire semi-hollow body electric guitar. Wish I'd kept that one!
