Great clip , I'd never seen that one. Not much video of Little Walter out there. So much talent, such a sad short life.

Yeah, Little Walter was my Harp Hero when I was learning from age 16 up. Shortly after his death. :(

I learned harp with Sonny Terry records. Walter taught me about electricity. He wasn't around long, but he left a legacy of licks and tricks. 8)

You got that right. I heard a lot more of Sonny Terry, but Walter had the sound & chops I adored. Second place was Howling Wolf, even though he swapped between harp, guitar, & neither, I always liked his harp playing. But Little Walter was "IT". Though I knew of Sonny Boy, it was only later I heard enough to appreciate him(or, I should say, "them") . Big Walter Horton could wail, as well!

Wolf sure was a fine harp player. His technique was fairly simple, but his timing and tone were perfect. I saw him in '73 or 4, he was in rough shape, but played well. Wolf was a force of nature.

I saw Sonny and Brownie around that same. One of the best concerts ever. Only about 200 people showed up (20 below zero that night) , they played for 3 hours with only 1 break. I knew the promoter, and got to meet them after the show. The car that was supposed to pick them up broke down, so they hung out an jammed and talked for another hour and a half. Both were fine people. A wonderful night.

I've only recently come to appreciate Horton, though I was aware of him before. I got a CD with a tune he gets one of those tones on I can't resist.

And here I was feeling guilty for steering your Hound Dog Taylor vid thread off into harpland  !

Thought I'd leave it, and see what ensued !

Bass was another stand out on that, yer right; I noticed, too, not your typically, simple style, but filled nicely.
