I'd prefer a campfire if you pay the barbecue. I'll bring the wine, marcus.

But because of our history there is nothing like the american pride in our country - unfortunately, because there are a lot of things we could be very proud of in our history - only we are not.
Hi Michael; I respect your humility but would like to point out that America's pride in itself is always strongest when it is able to overlook its own shortcomings.

In 1970, I visited St Michael's Church in Fulda c. 820 ... when it was built, North America was wilderness inhabited by real 'Americans' ... it would be nearly another 800 years before churches were widely built in North America:

In 1970, I also sat on Philosopher's Hill ... across from this building and considered that when it was built, the US didn't exist politically ... it was still a collection of hunters, small farmers, fishermen, and a place where slavery was legal. 1,600 years before it was built, the Germanic people had been fighting for hundreds of years to hold off enslavement by the Romans.

I had driven to both Fulda and Heidelberg in one of these ... a 1958 MB 219 (W105) except mine had a chocolate top, tan body, in-line 6-cylinder engine, 4-speed on the column, and walnut trim on the dash, console, and doors. It did 65mph/100kph at 20 miles per gallon of benzine.

When my '58 Benz was being built, General Motors was making these: a 1957 Buick Roadmaster.

I note that MB is selling cars all around the world and that GM can barely give its products away. As the poet (no, not Goethe  ) said:

"...For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'."

btw: my brother is going to see the current version of the British Walkers ... you might want to check this link ... see if you recognize any of the original band members .... might look at who has Friended them ... pretty impressive.

Re: A PAIR

sorry john, I am late with my reply.
well, of course also your origins lie in the old european culture, too.
But I am ebarrased that nowadays all the great things german intellect and craftmanship have achieved are not recognized as what they are: great examples of western culture.
a mixture of american pride and clear knowledge of the past is what is lacking in my country. (my 2cts)

now I just checked the link to the "british walkers". yes: roy buchanan. but I have to admit that the name was not the reason why I wanted the guitar. I always wanted a tele, but all fenders just did not have it. and since I am a Guild addict.....
And what should I say it is rare and great, even better than I hoped.

Mi Michael; then you benefited from good fortune; having a tele made by Guild and it's named after a very well-respected musician ... can't get any better than that! J

Just looked up the FS4612CE - looks like she was born in 1984 - unless Hans says different.

Re: A PAIR

I was just asked a question. Thought I was perfectly clear but I guess not...

The asking price is for BOTH GUITARS TOGETHER. One price, two guitars. Not for EACH guitar.

Re: A PAIR

Thanks, Jerry.

I'm sorry, too. Hope they get a good new home.

Some of us haven't got a spouse, or a house...or great windowsills.

Keeping two Guilds, for now. :D

Re: A PAIR

At least that's something - but one of the ones you're selling is your 'signature'? You'll have to rename yourself D25 or whatever :?: Jane, I really wish I lived nearer and had the dispoable cash (currently still funding second son through uni - costs me around $18,000 a year all told I reckon in your money - last year now) so I could become a temporary owner and you could buy them back later :)

Re: A PAIR

Not selling the 'signature' 12 string, Jerry, it's the 6-string Setzer version that's up for a new home. :D

Hope your son appreciates the fine start in life you're giving him! 8)

And I appreciate very much your wonderful, kind thoughts. :D :D

Thank goodness for that - it would be like selling your soul

Sons :!: Simon is the younger one (21) with still 1 year to go doing Biological science at Birmingham University (UK, not Alabama). James (23) got a degree at Manchester in Maths & Physics, and is currently working a year's contract in South Korea as a teaching assistant, teaching 'English as a foreign language' - so at least he's working and earning :D

Jane - I really hope some good fortune comes your way soon :!:

Re: A PAIR

Thanks, John. :D

Trying to be patient in these difficult times...really do need to sell them.

Kind of surprised, though, with all the cross talk re: Guild's no longer making electrics, that these two nice ones haven't generated much interest... :?

Maybe that's why Guild isn't making any electrics anymore...

Hi Jane ... and you're welcome. It doesn't help that FMIC disrespects the brand but in looking around here, the 'yoots' are more interested the solidbodies from the 70s and the rest mostly interested in the electric archies from the '50s and '60s ... god forbid you have to hold that BB long enough for the younger people who were Brian Setzer's fans get old and wealthy enough to reward themselves with that 'Setzer model' they couldn't afford X years before. Good luck ... :? :)

It's a thought but, by definition, the babies don't listen to what old folk have to say anyway ... particularly if you dare suggest it's in their interest  :D

Re: A PAIR - Vintage Guild Electric Guitar

Maybe we should tell them that this Bluesbird's 25 1/2" scale is the same as the Fender Strats they're already used to...only we all know the Birdie is better.
