Nirvans's Nevermind on 8-Track!

The listing is blocked for sale by Discogs for legal reasons, but I wonder if the listing isn't just someone having a lark with Photoshop.

If you saw the thread I posted with the Ringo interview on Kimmel, he said his latest EP sold the most copies on cassette!

Makes you wonder if this could be real. Supposedly In Utero is available in 8-track, too...

Uncle Google suggests that there are several Nirvana albums available on 8-Track. The speculation is that a fan made them and so they are unofficial, unsanctioned, bootleg or whatever word you want to use for a copy of a recording that probably violates copyright laws when sold. That said, decades later, they exist and would certainly enhance the a collection of a Nirvana fan whose vintage automobile sports an 8-track or someone who just liked owning all things Nirvana.

There was an article on the BBC a couple of years ago about cassettes and Indie groups. Apparently a lot of UK Indie groups only have cassettes at their merch tables.

Cassettes are easy to produce at home in small volumes. You can daisy chain a lot of cassette decks to record off of whatever plays the master recording. You can print small batches of labels on home printers. Decent results. Very cost effective. Pretty much no paper trail for tax audits - cash purchases - cash sales.

CDs are much more expensive to produce and if professionally done there are minimum production runs.
