I do not know about refininshing....what do you'all think....is it worth it....does it affect collectability or future resale?
I would not refinish. I just would clean it and ask the luthier to buff the surface, but that guitar should keep its vintage lacquer I think.
Regarding the pickup rings. I had noticed that on Hans previous picture that two thin rings are at the neck and middle P/U and the thicker ring at the bridge P/U. Hence I had mentioned it.

I will probably go the buff route....not sure about the back though (the big circle thats to the wood)

For the PUP rings, I took the thick ring (6th pic in 1st post on page 1) and moved it from the neck position to the bridge position. When I ordered the bridge pickup I asked for a neck ring and placed that in the middle position, so it currently has the 2 thin rings and one thick ring as you mentioned.

Regarding the back, the luthier states he can make the plastic pieces that cover the pots and switches....finding a pickguard may be tricky

Now to figure out how to cut the pickguard correctly to fit. :?: I have not seen one of these up close....do they lie at angle, resting against the pickup ring bezel and a felt block beneath it?

Also if have pics of the felt blocks that go under the pickguard or know where to acquire, please drop me a line.

Thanks again Hans

Nice! Piece by piece back to original Guild state!
I am sure Kurt (The Guilds of Grot) can help you and maybe post a picture how exactly it is mounted on his guitar. (the felt spacers and the distance)
Regarding cutting: I am sure you get some advise from others here. At least it is just a straight line you need to cut! (Plus the half round cutout for the P/U height adjustment screw).

This was the previous picture Kurt had posted:

Currently at the luthier. I picked up the 70 s100 that I posted pics of earlier. Had a small piece of binding replaced . Awaiting a quote on wiring up the pickups/switches , routing the pick guard for a 3rd pickup and getting backplates cut to cover the pots etc

Then the work can begin :D

Hi Y'all

While the guitar is at the luthier
(getting a quote to get the wiring/switches hooked up)

Does anybody know or have an extra strap button the goes on the but end of the guitar.

According to Hans these butt end pins have more of a wedge that enters the larger hole in the end of the M75/Bluesbird

thanks again

Can anyone tell me if this end pin will fit my bluesbird?

Hello parsox,

Sorry for coming in a little late!

The item in the auction is the more recent version of the endpin that you need.

Here's a photo of both the one that would be the correct one for your M-75 on the right and the more recent one on the left:

SBendpins.jpg

As you can see they are not the same length and the recent one has a knurled 'collar', so you can't turn it around without damaging the wood that keeps it in place. Since it has the extra screw, there's no chance that the endpin will come out by accident, which could happen with the older style. The older style is just a push-in type, that should hold itself in place because of the tapered shape; pretty much the same as the enpin in a regular flat top guitar. They do come out sometimes, which is the reason why some people replace them with a regular strap knob that's fastened with a woodscrew.

The recent one has a slightly different taper, so if you push that one into the hole of a '70s guitar it will not be a tight fit. However, if you use the screw, then there should be no reason for the pin to come out. So, the short answer is, no it's not the correct one but it will work!

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
