For sale in Europe

I can't find a MSRP on Guild's site. If I am doing Euros to USD correctly the price is about $5400. European number formats that use a dot where I am used to seeing a comma and a comma where I am used to seeing a dot are confusing.

Listed at $5699 on Thomann's US site.

Oh, OH, I so want to be in! But alas, probably not :(

I will be 70 in a few weeks, think I can convince Sirkku, probably not :(

Finally a modern Guild that could be a bluegrass guitar (present and past D55 is not). The past D50's certainly were, even the GAD-50, as well as the NH F47R...

However, I note that Sweetwater shows .012-.053 strings...lights?...hmmm

When I think "bluegrass guitar" I never think D55 for sure. I think D18/28, or even that nice Pilgrim you have.

I love it. Just the right bling, and construction to bring out the finest tone. That one should be a lifetime guitar for sure. At $6000, to be honest, I think it's reasonable. That's a lot of guitar. I've got two built the same way with scalloped Adi bracing and Adi tops and it's about the finest tone enhancement and projection additions I can imagine. If I had a spare $6000, I'd be on the list. I'd imagine it'll have tons of depth and a bunch of projection.

The Sweetwater description says EIR in multiple places though the rear picture looks correct. Omits b/s wood in the specs. I’m guessing a rushed cut and paste to list it quickly. They have 3 of the 70.

Since Guild and I were born at the same time (1953) I wondered if they were gonna do something for the 70th!! I'm glad they did. That's just beautiful. Nice bling and tastefully done. I love the Adi top!! (y)(y)
I was born in '54 and in 2004 I bought one of the 50th Anniversary Strats that year (not one of the chintzy ones). It was solid Ash with that old two tone sunburst finish. Beautiful guitar -- but I never liked the way it played, though I really tried to like it. It finally found it's way to a first cousin who loves it. My point (as everyone here knows) what looks pretty may not turn out to be a very good player. Ever since then I've shied away from "anniversary" guitars, no matter how fetching they look.

What am I missing? Other than it being called a 70th anniversary and having a 70th inlay and what seems like minor changes, this does not scream "gotta have one!" to me.

Well, Madagascar rosewood has gotten to be pretty scarce lately, and has become a rather large upcharge on boutique builds. And there is also more abalone, so there's that I guess. I prefer my Guilds relatively blingless, so it's not for me.

Gosh GAD, inlay, the bracing, the top wood, the B/S wood........should be a pretty incredible guitar I'd think. 👿 I actually mentioned it to Mrs. West earlier, just to see what kind of reaction I might get. Once upon a time, she'd have said, "Well if you want it, buy it". But zero reaction today. Not a good sign.:ROFLMAO:
