The '72 D25 I had was very cool. I would describe it as "dark & mushy" compared to this D35 (and the other '69 D35 I had, which I made a direct comparison with). That said, the D25 also had more of a D40 vibe than the D35, oddly. As in- more deep bass. I'd be curious to play a '68 D25.

Has anyone (other than Hans I'm sure) seen an actual 1968 D25? I think I've only seen one online ever.

Asking because I am waiting on some pics and may buy one that seems to basically be a closet classic at a reasonable price.
Not sure of the exact year, but I did have one from right around then. Got it used in the early '70s.

It looked exactly like the ones in posts 17 and 19.

Westerly. Natural spruce top, flat back. It had a black plastic headstock front with mother of pearl logo. Flared headstock, not the later tapered shape. The fret markers were dots. Unbbound neck. The body binding was black.

Loved that guitar. Let us know if you land it!

Charlie, D25's had mahogany tops until ca '73/'74. Typo, or were you "just sayin'", since it was early '70's?

Mine is a '76 and is definitely a spruce top. Bicentennial model!
