Hi Folks, I have what I believe from the serial number to be a 1998 D40 (narrow peghead). It appears that there were no D40's built from '93 to 97. Is that correct? Also I read somewhere that the Gruhn/Walker specs influenced builds from their era on. Does anyone know if that's true and which ones? Thanks

Hello Pike,

Yes, that's correct!

Yes, that is true as well but the influence of Gruhn and Walker was not necessarily limited to a few models. Various little changes were implemented all through the entire Guild line and a lot of these changes were phased out again during the years that followed.

Sincerely,

Thanks Hans. This one is light, sounds great, deep and soulful sound, lots of bass yet great articulation, different than other Guild mahogany dreadnaughts I've owned and/or played and better than either of the other high end mahogany dreadnaughts I own. After I had it a while, I sold my '76 D40. Any pics available of the bracing system on the Gruhn/Walker dreadnaught tops?
