***SOLD***

Beautiful all-mahogany arch-back 1986 Guild D15M.

Dings, dents, scratches, normal usage wear throughout.
Satin finish has been worn to gloss in areas.

1 5/8" nut, excellent neck angle, good playing condition,
great sounding example of an all-hog original Westerly arch-back dread.
Internal pickup works.
Ships in non-original hard-shell case.

No neck block stamp.
The last numeral on on the V-bevel stamp is very faint, although it
appears to be a "6". In red ink is stamped "JAN 17 198_"
Serial number is AH101469.

Darned good looking, the gold tuners are an interesting touch for such an understated guitar. Are they original?

beecee,

Thanks! It's about as brown as a brown Guild can get - there's
an austerity to it, but there's a compelling richness there as well.
I have a growing interest and appreciation for the various shades of all-hog and
medium and dark-stained Guilds.

The real surprise was how different it sounds from my recently departed D17 -
noticeably more volume, more projection - closer to a D25 in terms of volume,
but cleaner than a 25 - good sustain, fewer overtones.

Have been advised that the "G H" in the label stands for "gold hardware" and
that the original TRC would have been gold as well - but don't know if the original TRC would
have been painted plastic, plated plastic or plated metal. If I could find
an accurate, clear photo reference, I could make a convincing replacement gold TRC.
Thus far, searching google images, endless pics of D15s, but no gold.

Imo, the gold tuners on this guitar work really well visually with this
particular shade of brown.

Either way, had not seen a label like this before on a D15.

If I lived or were in the States right now, we would be in touch, man.

There is something about its simplicity that makes me curious. She looks great and being an all hog guitar, it interests me even more. But I don't need another dread...:biggrin-new:

All the best with your sale.

Ah ha...makes sense now.

Thanks Bruno!

In full disclosure... recently have spent more time staring at / studying / appreciating this
and previously the D17 than the other guitars in the collection. No idea why - misplaced
lust, perhaps :love-struck:

For anyone with love for mahogany dreads, here's a link to the photos of the now-departed D17M.
Cool thing about google photos is they're zoom-able to high res.

Now THIS is how you photograph your guitar to sell on the web. Well done!

Thanks Kitarkus!

Fwiw... my current thinking is that good photos make no difference as to
whether or not a guitar sells - and may even be a detriment.
Have a theory behind this, perhaps will share later.

Might sound odd, but the photos are more or less for myself and fellow Guild enthusiasts
to enjoy.

I wish I had money, but alas, it's the end of the year, the end of the semester, and my funds have dwindled. Lol.

I love the understated look of the 15.

Thanks for the pics of the 17. That is a gorgeous instrument.

Thanks Sagebrush.
I didn't really appreciate all-hog guitars from an aesthetic
or playing standpoint until recently.
That 17 was a uniquely beautiful guitar - with a wider nut I'd likely
have kept it, but it was all-original and I didn't want
to change anything around.
