You’re looking at a 1981 Guild D46 BLD. Neck block date is Sept 14th 1981. Beautiful guitar, spruce top and ash back, sides and neck. It is labeled as a factory second, but I struggle to find much wrong with it aside from some tiny fluctuations in the grain on the back and near a tuner on the back of the headstock. Action is 6/64ths bass, 5/64ths treble. The neck angle hits the exact top of the bridge. Has the original Guild hard case as well. $1299. (shipping to east cost would be approx $100, West Coast $130, but it would be well packed and fully insured))

These are really fine and really fun models. And, I much prefer the one like yours w/o the RW strip going down the cenrer of the back. Nice looking guitar!!
I agree. The ones with the rosewood strip always struck me as a little odd looking. Thanks!

funny thing, GAD did a D46 write up a while back and in some of the photos he was comparing his to another one, that appears to be this one.

I played one of these a few years ago and really enjoyed it. What a beauty. If not for a pretty big purchase this week, I'd be checking it out for sure. Good luck with your sale, Heath.

That sure is a nice-looking guitar! I'm probably not in the market for another dread right now either, but I'm almost tempted to see about making the trip across town to try this one, just in case it changes my mind.

I’ve always liked the looks of that model. I’m sure I played one decades ago, but can’t recall specifics. Indeed, it’s a beautiful guitar!

That's a very nice and distinctive guitar. I've not played an ash back/sides acoustic. How would you describe the tonal characteristic? From what I've read, it's considered harder than mahogany, so is it as bright as maple or somewhere in between? In any case, good luck with the sale...very cool.

Great looking example of an uncommon model. Love the grain top to bottom on that 40+ year old wood. Add the ebony neck and bridge and a great price…. This shouldn’t last long.

What a nice unique model. I have never had the pleasure of playing a D-46 but that is a super nice top! Excellent grain!

Just a note that currently this is still available. And to those that asked about the tone, the best I could explain is that to my ears it’s bright and balanced, with lots of sustain.

I love my D46, these are great guitars, unique ones for adding to a collection for sure. I agree the tone is as you say, bright and articulate with a good balance between bass and treble. Strum an open Am chord and you’ll fall in love. Great price too including a case, I’d recommend to snag it if you’re considering it.
I needed a case, and as far as Guild branded cases go, I bought a new Guild dread archtop case that list for $209 for $175 so they are costly. Used are cheaper sure, but who knows what issues you might get, and I was down with pampering it:
