I have the S300A and a B302 bass. I've been thinking about getting all the Guild models with that body shape. They're that good! And my sunburst is of course the prettiest I've seen this far ;)

I've been thinking about getting all the Guild models with that body shape. They're that good!
Now that topic would be for an entire new thread I guess! That would be quite a task to get one of each! Let's see how many I get together:

S-60 (One HB-1, Hog body, hog neck)
S-60-3/4 (added after Hans posted below in post #27)
S-60D (Two DiMarzio SDS-1, Hog body, hog neck)

S-65D (One DiMarzio Dual Sound humbucker with coil tap, hog body, hog neck)

S-70D (Three DiMarzio SDS-1, Hog body, hog neck)
S-70AD (Three DiMarzio SDS-1, Ash body, maple neck)

S-300 (Two HB-1, Hog body, hog neck)
S-300A (Two HB-1, Ash body, maple neck
S-300D (Two DiMarzio humbuckers, Hog body, hog neck)
S-300AD (Two DiMarzio humbuckers, Ash body, maple neck)

S-400 (Two DiMarzio humbuckers, Neck through body variant with Ash body, maple neck, active electronic EQ, brass hardware)

B-301 (1 pup, Hog body, hog neck)
B-301A (Ash body, maple neck)
B-302 (2 pups, Hog body, hog neck)
B-302A (Ash body, maple neck)

B-401A (Single pup, preamp with EQ, Ash body, maple neck)
B-402A (Two pups, preamp with EQ, Ash body, maple neck) http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q109/andyspublicpix/Guild B-402A/IMG_3657.jpg?t=1239150250

Something missing?

The S300 also had a "stereo" version
Yes, but those were options, not really separate models. Infact all double pickup models were available with optional stereo wiring and also with optional bigsby! And basses could be ordered fretless. So if you want each option covered you could also cover each model in each color...That would add plenty of guitars to fill a house!

What the heck is a s400? Anyone ever seen one? Grot have one?

One of the known owners lives near Munich/Germany and he bought it in a store in Munich (!) in the early 80ies as first owner, he wrote it is basically a S-300AD but with active electronics. The invoice shows S-400 and the sales rep told him it is a S-400AD. The guitar was coming from the Musikmesse in Frankfurt and was shown there in 1980 (?). The serial number was EB100022 as far as I know, which makes it a 1979 (S-300A) number. Now if that one was a prototype and how many exist, I don't know. The Blue Book shows a S-400 and S-400A. Now if both had a neck-though-body I don't know.
He wrote:
About the controls/switches:
There are two sub and one main gain,
an active eq with bass, mid and high control,
a switch for chosing the pick (3-way)
one switch (2-way) for a bass-boost of the front pick
one for bass-boost of the rear pick
one for high-boost of the rear pick
one for activating the active eq.

I think Hans would probably speak about it in Volume II.

Update:

Well ok, maybe not ALL those models ;D But at least the S60/70 -type, S300D and that S400 seems very interesting too. Might take a while to find one. There's one S60D for sale in Finland but I haven't been able to close the deal yet.

My first Guild was an S60 that looked just like that S60 3/4 in the video. Man, I wish I still had it.

I once saw a S70 type guitar that looked to be original but had a different set of controls. Instead of the two mini switches and the 5-way pickup selector it had three mini switches in a row between the Master Vol and Master Tone control. I only saw one of these over the years and it was on eBay, the controls were similar to the X-79-3.

Speaking of S-70 controls...my S70 came wired stock with the mini switches set up to select the in/out phase of Neck/Middle and Bridge/Middle. From the discussions it appears other S-70 come with a in/out phase switch and a bypass. Not sure how that is wired up and would like to know. I have since made a modification to control the volume of the middle pickup and a few other pickup selections a push/pull POT.
