well I got the Guild...my first one
I pulled it out and inspected it, the seller wasn't the most accurate, there is a small crack on the side and I can barley feel it on the inside, just barley
LOADS of character and some bear claw on top, some scrapes scratches, nicks, dings, checking, beautiful, I love natural wear
The sound.....blah, wasnt impressed AT ALL
took it to get checked out at a local music store: Diagnosis
Bracing is rock solid
barley any belly
Nut has deep grooving and is held up by a shim? wtf
saddle is so low that strings have almost no angle when touching them
mismatches bride pins ( although its not a big deal because they do nothing for sound)
frets are SUPER low
and neck needs to be reset in the next few years
after this I was like well let me change the strings, bought some Martin SP 11's
HOLY CRAP
this thing is amazing, with all of the issues and tougher playability this thing is amazing, for a minute i thought i was playing a rosewood guitar, with the bass I was getting, it is loud, beautiful tone, and just envokes 31 more years of enjoyment, I have played Tacoma,Gibson, Taylor, Martin, and Larrivee and I was happy that it hangs with them (im not baised towards anyone, but I respect them except for Taylors ( please watch the factory tour....I vow to never play one again)
anyway I have found a very good man who makes his own beautiful guitars who will make me a bone nut and saddle, reset the neck an refret the guitar as well as set it up for $300 and his work is great, I cant believe the deal......(we are Tacoma lovers..that might help)
I got the guitar for 390. IT sounds great now, but when everything is fixed it will be at 100%, I cant wait for it, something I will never sell ever
