Nope, it's not mine and I'm not buying it (at least not yet ;) but I'm putting these pics here as a favor for the owner. He sold me the S300 so I'm forever in debt to him :D So, any ideas about the value of this guitar are appreciated as are sightings of possible non-original parts. At least the pups are not original, even I know that much :)

Get ready, I know how much you like to drool on Guild-pics

Does it have the OHSC? If so anywhere around $1000-$1200, if it have the original pickups maybe upward towards $1300-$1400. If it doesnt have the original hard shell case maybe $1000. This is just my opinion.

No OHSC.

What replacement pickups are those? They remind me of Gibson P94s, which would make it an interesting marriage of an S-100 Carved with P94s.

Could they be SD Phat Cats? Would make sense in a way. How many pups have the poles aligned in the middle anyway?

I brought this baby home a couple of days ago! I took a look under the hood and this is what I found. The pickups are Seymour Duncans so they must be Phat Cats, right? At least the hum I get is very close to what I hear from my Gibsons P90's, only slightly less. The output is pretty hot and the sound has this nice bite I love. Unbelievably light guitar and sooo easy to play. Out of my 3 Guilds this is in best shape (except for the non-original parts).

Please comment if you notice something out of the ordinary or worth noting :)

Even with the replacement pickups, you've quickly accumulated a trifecta of Guild Goodliness, my friend. Well done. Can't wait to see the full body shots.

Yes, those are Phat Cat™ SPH90-1 pickups.
The last picture you posted has the label attached which shows: SPH901N for a neck pickup .
http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/e ... _phat_cat/

So the one you showed is the SPH90-1N and the other should be the SPH90-1B. The DC Resistance of the Neck should be 7.98 k and the Bridge 8.49 k. The neck pickup is reverse wound/reverse polarity relative to the bridge for hum-free performance when both pickups are used together.

A '75 but before the tailpiece move/steeper neck angle. Cool!

For comparison - because I geek out on stuff like this - the '75 I used to have:

So, Phat Cats confirmed, thanks Ralf! I tried to google the label numbers but with no luck. I only loosened the strings enough to have a peek under the neck pup but I'm sure they are both Phat Cats. The pickup rings don't cover the routings 100% but that's a small thing. It seems like they added/changed some components too. Those TAD-labeled thingies don't look original. Any idea what they are for? I know nothing about electronics  The phase switch is now a cool killswitch btw

It's interesting how they marked the models and colors in a very irregular way :D These oddities are just one more reason to love Guilds!

Now I have two guitars with P90's and if the Acorn proves to be as good or even better than my Gibson it might mean the Gibby can go... I've had both guitars for such a short period of time that I'm not going to make any decisions for a long time though.

I really like Phat Cats. Once I acquired an S-100 I took the humbuckers out of my '97 Les Paul Studio. put in the P-90s instead, and never looked back!

Of course you'll want to find a set of HB-1s for your new S-100. Then just buy another guitar to house the Duncans!

Congrats on your purchase!
