I’d like to offer up this stunningly original SUNBURST F-312 to the Guild enthusiasts here first. This one’s simply “find me another one” rare just back from a complete set-up by luthier, Bryan Kimsey. All-original finish (touch up at neck joint during reset), tuners, bridge, pickguard, pins, case, down to the authentic Guild wipe down cloth. It’s all there! Fantastic headroom and balance from chime to rumble, this model is just unto itself in or outside of the legendary 60’s 12-string line up from Guild.

Particular to this guitar:

  • Crazy landscaped Brazilian rosewood figuring (which tends to occur in older trees) on back and sides. Ebony fretboard w/o markers and Brazilian rosewood bridge.
  • Although a ‘69, this one is built in the older Hoboken body shape/carve rather the Westerly shape of the time and to follow into the 1970s.
  • Mahogany neck with robust cherry gloss finish

Bryan adjusted the saddle and trust rod, glued and adjusted the nut, and replaced the original plastic cream bridge pins and strap pin (originals are all fully functional and secured in the case pocket of the guitar) with Galalith (casein) ones from StewMac. They’re super sharp setting off the b/w/b binding of the sunburst top, and more bold than the original plastic ones. Obviously, the new owner will have the choice of going back and forth between them and the originals.

Neck set has been done long ago, and Bryan set the action low for me at 3/32” (High e) and 4/32” (low E). It would benefit someone who likes it so, or actually play the guitar at concert pitch. Of course, the buyer’s luthier could raise the action, if so desired. There’s plenty of saddle to go either way for many years ahead.

Two stable top cracks extend down the guitar’s belly (no bulge) and there’s a “B-string” crack at the pickguard.
Very minor finish crazing in some areas of top finish, no cracks to head stock, neck joint area, no punctures...nothing. This is a drop in and go ultra-clean and sleek 12’er for any/every Guild enthusiast with zero tuning issues and a fresh set of Thomastik-Infeld Plectrums ready-to-go.
Buyer assumes all shipping/insurance.

Happy New Years,
Troy

Just want to add this one also has the Chesterfield, which is not typically seen together with that earlier "Hoboken shape" F-312.

It's so cool that gems like this exist in the Guildiverse. Best to this beauty's future.

Troy, I see Bryan has shuttered his shop. His work will be missed by many.

Thanks slimbob!

He posted an update over on the UMGF. Long story, but he's well and plans on having guitars back on the bench by this summer. He's simply got lots of balls up in the air.

I was thinking of getting this guitar just to gaze deeply into the depths of some of the finest BRW I have seen in a contemporary guitar...but whadda I need with a 12 string? I will leave it for someone else to enjoy.
