Selling my 1966 Starfire XII 12-string in Emerald Green. Spectacular condition; near mint. All original (except for the case).

Had it set aside for a friend in trade for work he was going to do on my house, but it's obvious now that he'll never do it. At first glance, the guitar looks black.

I'll sell it for the best offer over $2500 to whoever can get me the money by the end of the weekend.

Pictures to follow.

BTW - is there any real reason for some strings crossing between bridge and tailpiece?

Selling my 1966 Starfire XII 12-string in Emerald Green.

Hello mgod,

From what I remember when I was holding the guitar in your place, I believe your Starfire XII had an Ebony (Black) finish that had faded. Take a good look at the label!

BTW - is there any real reason for some strings crossing between bridge and tailpiece?

The tailpieces on early Starfire XIIs are regular 6-string units, so if you put a string pair on in the wrong order and you don't watch it closely, it can end up like this.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Hans,

Am I remembering correctly you told me that this Guitar was the one that I owed at one time?

What I remember is that at some point you gave me a list of your collection on which there was a Guild Starfire XII that, according to me, you no longer had.

I knew that because I'd seen it somewhere else. I believe you had found another one and had forgotten to change the serial number on your list!

Or something to that effect!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Alright - but then on A-pair and G-pair they are coming separately.

Would it be safe to assume, that Guild introduced double-slotted harp tailpiece little by little ??? :biggrin-new:

Yes that was it! I had purchased the Ebony Starfire XII at Outlaw Guitars in Greenbrook, NJ. A couple of years later I found a nicer Sunburst model. I sold the Ebony to a gentleman (Michael Lee Allen?) in LA. Then somehow it ended up in mgod's hands.

Thanks for refreshing my memory!

Hi Hans,

No, it's an actual Emerald Green guitar.

No, it means that the person who put the strings on was lucky to get those two pairs right, but it is possible to get it right with all of the pairs;
you just need to pay attention.

No, that must be a different guitar.

This guitar has a Pyramid flatwound set, and Val McCallum broke a string on it when we last did a record together, and replaced it.
