VG+-Ex condition, all original. Fine grain spruce top, Honduras mahogany back, sides and neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Narrow tortoise-shell binding with black/white purfling. This guitar is a fine example of this model with little play wear, finish crazing or incidental bumps and bruises. No strap button installed on neck heel. Neck set and angle appear to be optimal and bridge is without separation from the top. Unusual large pattern tortoise-shell scratch guard. Also unusual is the one piece back with no center seam. There is a well repaired crack, apparently from dryness. It has been suggested that the one-piece back has a proclivity towards this occurrence. At some point in the guitar’s history, it was apparently stored with inadequate humidification in a low humidity environment, leading to wood shrinkage and, thus, the crack. The crack has been properly repaired, reinforced and, given continued adequate humidification, should present no problem for the lifetime of its next several owners. There is also a small crack in the top, caused by scratch guard shrinkage. This seems to be a common occurrence and it is also well repaired and stable.

The action is low and smooth with easy playability, and the nut width measures just short of 1 11/16th” wide. The current strings are light gauge phosphor bronze which seem to be optimal for easy playing and sonic responsiveness. This guitar produces a tremendous amount of sound for its size. It is lightly constructed and possesses a wide dynamic range, from sweet and soft to big and powerful. Fingerpicked or flatpicked, this guitar responds willingly.

Included is a Guild HSC, and whilst not originally issued with this guitar, it is of the exact era and type of case that would have been sold with this guitar. The case is in great structural condition with all hinges and latches fully operational.

I would vastly prefer an in-person, cash transaction in the New England era and may go to great lengths to make this occur. I have no interest in trades; I seek $$$. I am highly skilled and experienced at packing a guitar for shipping if a deal can be struck. Buyer would pay for entire shipping cost. I will gladly refund purchase and accept return if this guitar fails to match the description and photos provided. Thank you.

Here is a shot that, with reflections, exaggerates the appearance of the crack. It is fairly difficult to see under normal conditions. Second shot of these two demonstrates this.

Sweet! One of my favourite guitars. I would run back into a burning building to save mine. Might even get it first before wife, kids, and pets. ;)

I believe I used to own this case- it says Ess&Ess Brooklyn on the inside, and has the key in the original envelope. The outside is OG Alligator skin. it is a 1965 case. GLWTS

This is a good deal here, an F-30 this old is usually pretty trashed, and they have been fetching record highs recently. The case is the exact match, I remember doing the homework and 1965 was the bullseye (and I also had a D-50 case from 1965 at the same time, which is also long gone to a forum member here). I recall this deal with JR, and can report with confidence that the case and guitar are absolutely a perfect match, to the extent that they may have been separated at birth (I actually first acquired that case in CT. not far from where JR is located, but not sure where he got the guitar...). Anyone looking for a Hoboken F-30...take a very hard look at this.

Oh yeah, meant to add, that git IS a freekin' beauty, being a vintage F30 devotee myself.

Thanks for asking. I thought it was a tire gauge. My caliper reads 1.70 in or 43.2mm on my '63.

It shows 1.784", so basically a 1 3/4" nut.
EDIT: No, it shows 1.684"... My bad...

Actually, I believe that caliper is showing 1.684 inches (1 11/16 inch).

The vertical reading edge on the vernier portion of the caliper is well to the right of 1.6, and slightly below 1.7 inches.

Good luck with the sale, musico . . .

@donnylang, the seller asked folks to email him questions at the address in post #11.
