I admit it - I bought this last October on a whim, and now I'm selling it to pay for another shiny object with strings that I have to have. This is a beautiful old Guild by any standard, but I have more electric archtops than I can justify (especially since I'm playing mostly bass on stage these days).
Up for sale is a Guild X-350B from 1961. The guitar is not perfect but it is in excellent condition. There are a few scattered dings, but no signs of abuse or repair; cosmetically, the guitar looks very good for its age. The only replacement parts are the bridge and two of the switch tips. This model has a unique push-button pickup switching system that allows you to select any individual pickup and any pair of pickups. Unfortunately, the three buttons that select two pickups at a time don't always make contact with both; instead of messing with a rather complicated switch, I just press down two of the individual pickup buttons at a time; this allows the same functionality, and also lets you select all three pickups at once. The switch can be fixed (it's probably just dirty contacts) if you wish to spend the time. The original wiring is all intact and the master volume and tone controls work fine. All three Franz pickups have strong output. The notorious Guild plastic shrinkage is minimal, with very little binding separation and only a deteriorated heel cap. The guitar plays excellently; the truss rod works and the neck has been set up to be straight with great action. There is minimal fret wear, but the frets appear to be original. The guitar comes with its original case, which is about as clean as the guitar is.
I'm asking $2800 including all fees & shipping within the US.
